Gulf Coast Leadership

MCo recently managed the successful convening of industry, environment, navigation, academic, and community leaders around Gulf Coast sustainability issues.  The America’s Energy Coast Leadership Forum II in Washington DC focused on specific steps to resolve the maze of bureaucratic roadblocks that threaten the long-term sustainability of America’s Energy Coast. The report, “A Region at Risk,” was released at the event and drew the attention of policymakers to conflicting federal policies.

America’s Energy Coast Leadership Forum III will be held on May 26, 2010 at the Hotel Galvez in Galveston, Texas. To learn more please visit americasenergycoast.org

Convening Scientific Experts
on the World Deltas

As part of MCo’s work with the America's WETLAND Foundation, MCo is managing the first World Delta Dialogue—DELTAS2010—to be held in New Orleans, Louisiana from October 17 - 20, 2010.

The Dialogues will attract leaders from across the globe to meet with local and regional experts and authorities to identify best practices and find comprehensive strategies for creating sustainable deltas. Representatives of governments, NGOs, policy makers, and scientists from deltaic systems, such as the Mississippi River, the Niger, the Yangtze, Mekong and Amazon, will participate and discover common sustainability challenges and solutions.

Positioning the Arts and Innovation

Given the growing interest and support across the country for science, technology, engineering and mathematics subjects (STEM) that are crowding the arts out of the curriculum, MCo’s expertise in the arts and innovation has enabled us to advise state organizations and others on important positioning tactics.  Val Marmillion was recently invited by the Ohio Department of Education’s Committee on the Arts and Innovative Thinking and the First Lady of Ohio, Frances Strickland, to present on the importance of cultivating the imagination in and through the arts and important positioning for the arts relative to President Obama’s recent announcement of the Educate to Innovate Campaign.
